CCHS’ annual Scoops & Hoops Match of 2025 was one for the record books! The game kicked off with a bang. The first match was Seniors vs. Freshmen and it ended with an unexpected upset! Seniors were knocked out of the first round by the Freshmen.
The seniors’ loss set up a precedent for the rest of the game! The next round was between Juniors vs. Sophomores. It was a tight match with great showings from both teams. As the game came to an end, the juniors were up, but not by much. The Sophomores hit an unexpected buzzer beater, resulting in another upset. The Sophomores reigned supreme! The crowd goes wild!
Shockingly, neither upperclassmen team made it to the final round among students. Sophomores continued their victory and proceeded to the main event: teachers vs sophomores.
The teachers started Mr. Sullivan, Mr. Wang, Mrs. Angel, Mr. Boucher, and Mr. Sipsey. As the crowd chants and cheers for Mr. Wang, he takes the jump successfully hitting the ball, which is taken by the sophomores, who started out the game strong. Ms. Angell, Mr. Sipsey and many more make strong baskets, taking the lead.
When interviewing Mr. Wang about the immense support from the student section, he responded with, “There are pros and cons. […] because if I do not [do good] then I will be a laughing stock.” However, Mr. Wang and the teachers did extremely well, ending the game with a victory for the 2nd year in a row!
Overall, Scoops & Hoops raised $5,300 for Lazarus’ House! Cheers to Mrs. Chase’s Poverty, Policy & Justice class for another successful event!
